Landscapes exhibition kicks off - Punjab University College of Art and Design

LAHORE: Punjab University College of Art and Design in collaboration with The Lahore Museum mounted an exhibition of paintings under the title of ?Landscapes, Cityscapes and related Conceptual Paintings? at The Contemporary Painting Gallery of the Lahore Museum.

This show will remain open until 10th of December. This exhibition honours the teachers and graduates of the PUCAD for their important role in the creation of the modern Pakistani landscape painting tradition. The work of the artists including Ustad Alla Bakhsh, Muhammad Hussain Hanjra, Khalid Iqbal, Zulqarnain Haider, Mughees riaz, Kaleem Khan, Ghulam Rasul, Shahid Jalal, Mian Ejaz ul Hasan, Anna Molka Ahmad, Naseem Hafeez Qazi, Ghulam Mustafa, Zulfiqar Ali Zulfi, Dr. Ajaz Anwar, Abd al-Rehman Chughtai, Moyene Najmi, Musarrat Mirza, Zubeda Javed, Khalid Mahmud, Musarrat Hassan, Iqbal Hussain, Rahat Naveed Masud, Kehkashan Jafri, Maliha Azami Aga, Quddus Mirza, Durre Waseem, Naela Amir, Munawar Mohiudin, Amjad Naeem, Mirza Matloob Baig, Iqbal Khokhar, Muhammad Arshad and Anila Zulfiqar has been put on display at the gallary.

This exhibition has been inaugurated by PUCAD Principal Prof Dr. Rahat Naveed Masud and Dr. Barabara Schmitz and a book entitled ?Landscapes, Cityscapes and other Conceptual Paintings,? comprising 74 high-quality images of paintings, and 33 research based detailed articles about all the artists and their work, has also been launched at the occasion. Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Dr. Rahat Naveed Masud welcomed all the guests and explained the value and importance of this unique exhibition and the book. She mentioned the hard-work and efforts that she herself, Dr. Barbara Schmitz and other team members carried out for this project. Dr. Barbara Schmitz presented her thoughts about the history, evolution and popularity of Landscape painting in Pakistan with special reference to Punjab and its panoramic beauty. Artists, faculty members of College of Art and Design, art collectors, art lovers and dignitaries attended the show.
